#fearlessDEN Delivering bold innovations is on the agenda for the Autumn 2014 meetup to be hosted by Trinity Mirror

At the next Digital Editors Network meetup on November 6th we’re asking innovators not only to show us things that will inspire, but also to share how they overcame the obstacles to make it happen - and how they boldly keep going on. We're pleased to announce our host is one such fearless innovator: Trinity Mirror Regionals’ digital innovation editor Alison Gow . Alison Gow of Trinity Mirror “Back in 2008 we hosted a DEN in our Liverpool Echo offices; since then the network has grown considerably and so it's great to be able to offer a new invitation, this time to our Canary Wharf headquarters,” said Alison, who at the start of the year swapped the editor's chair at the Daily Post Wales, where Trinity Mirror piloted their Newsroom 3.0 concept, for the job of helping to deliver editorial innovation across all the titles in the UK’s largest publishers of regional newspapers.  That’s no small challenge.  “We've been accelerating the pace of change in Trinity ...

#visualDEN: If making, managing and monetizing visual content is on your agenda, register now for the next DEN meetup on 5 June at FT - now also with interactive hookup to JoziHub

[Update 19/05/2014: Reserve your space at the interactive hookup to JoziHub , South Africa, HERE from 20/05/2014] Visual content is top of mind in newsrooms and boardrooms. And it's also on the agenda for next Digital Editors Network meetup hosted by the Financial Times on 5 June 2014, with a live, interactive hookup to Johannesburg. So, who is doing good things? Who is doing it best? What do we need to know? And what do we need to avoid at all costs?  "The often-repeated claim that visuals are processed 60,000 times faster by the brain than text is probably bollocks ," says DEN co-founder  François Nel . "But there's no doubt visuals are critical to effective communication. As we struggle to navigate a world awash 24/7 with waves of information, perhaps it has never been more important that today." Lisa MacLeod  And if visual media are important to users, its also darn important to those in the business of making media, sai...

Dont miss this Spring date: The business of visual journalism will be under the spotlight at the Spring 2014 DEN meeting to be hosted by The Financial Times

Mark your diary; you'll definitely not want to miss this one.  We’re delighted to announce that the theme for the Spring Digital Editors Network meeting on 5 June 2014 is VisualDEN and that our hosts are The Financial Times , London. The convergence of journalism and technology as we move to a digital world opens up countless rich possibilities for presentation, for innovation and creative display. From web design, to user experience (UX), sharing to navigation; data visualisations to slideshows and interactive. The way we offer our content to readers is richer and more diverse than it ever was on paper, and the speed of digital development is lightning fast. So, who is doing good things? Who is doing it best? What do we need to know? And what do we need to avoid at all costs?   Over the coming months we’ll be working with FT Associate Editor Lisa MacLeod , who is head of Head of Operations of FT.Com , to put together a programme that will aim to answer th...
